The Very beginning

January 1, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Well, it’s the first day of 2008, a perfect time to start this blog.  I have been thinking about it for so long.  Now seems to be the right opportunity to get it out there – my life story so far.

Where to start?  How about the very beginning…

I was born in Victoria, in a little bush hospital in a small country town about 32 years ago.  My Mother and Father had been married for 15 years at this point, and my biological dad (Kevin) was my Mum’s second husband.  I was a tiny baby, only 6lb with pretty savage jaundice.  However I soon became well, and a healthy, happy baby. Mum has always called me the ‘textbook’ baby, as I did everything by the book.  I breastfed without a problem, slept without a problem, burped without a problem.  No reflux, no vomiting, no sickness.  I was a great baby, who gave my Mother no grief.  I had 3 older sisters and 1 brother at this point.  My oldest brother and sister Penelope and Sam were born to my Mothers first husband Michael.  My other 2 older sisters Laura and Becky were born to the same father as I, Kevin.

6 weeks after I was born, my Mother finally cracked, and decided to leave and divorce my good for nothing, cheating father.  The result of this, was that to this very day, I have not ever met my biological Dad.  I have seen a couple of photographs, and thought about getting in touch with him a few times, but that’s as far as it’s ever gone.  I am 32 years old now, and he has never ever tried to contact me.  He has told my siblings at various times that there is not a day goes by that he doesn’t think of us(his children), and yet this astounds me.  Why has he never tried to track me down?  I have heard he remarried many years ago and now has many more children to his second wife.  He would be a grandfather now.

Mum said they were happy for  many years, but that Kevin just had to be with younger women all the time.

One particular story goes like this.

One day, Kevin came home from work with a massive dent in the back of the car.  Mum gasped, asking what on earth had happened.  Kevin replied that it must have happened when the car was parked, that some lunatic must have run into him.  Mum later found out that my father was actually parked on a steep hill, and in his haste to get inside to shag some young woman, he had forgotten to put the handbrake on, and the car had rolled back and smashed into another car.  What integrity and morals he must have had.

I have very curly hair, and this I inherited from Kevin.  I believe he is living in Victoria somewhere, but I doubt we shall ever meet.  He has a silent number.
